We were invited to enter a design competition for Saffron Housing Trust’s new entrance for their existing offices in Long Stratton.

The original entrance was located at first floor level, with an external passenger lift for disabled users coming to the end of its life.

The brief was to provide a ground floor entrance space and new internal lift, all to be housed within a structure to sit below an existing tensile canopy, all to be designed and constructed for a £100,000 budget.

We entered the competition alongside Grantchester Construction, and on being awarded the commission, set about delivering the works on time and within the original budget.

The enclosure cascades down from the existing first floor level to car park level, carefully modelled to sit under the canopy, allowing sufficient tolerance for the movement of the tensile structure.
